Operations Manager - Deadline 14/05/2026 5pm

Location: Co-Located Bray and Arklow Centres

This role could be Part time or Full time for the right candidate.

You will be leading a core staff team of Reception/Administrators. This team supports the operational runnings in Living Life Counselling for a staff team of 14 and  between 85 and 100 volunteer counsellors, who are in all stages of learning and accreditation.

You will also be responsible for the growth of the organisation in line with the Strategic Plan, supporting the COO in her role leading Living Life Counselling, networking, keeping on top of changing regulation in the charity regulator sphere and be knowledgeable in CORU standards and expectations.

You will work closely with the Clinical Manager and COO, ensuring we continue our vision and mission.

Job Title: Operations Manager

About Us:

Living Life Counselling (LLC) is a voluntary organisation providing essential counselling services for low-income individuals since 1996. We operate centres in Bray and Arklow, offering support for issues such as bereavement, stress, depression, separation, suicide, and the impacts of addiction. Our services are delivered by volunteer counsellors dedicated to making a difference.

 

Job Purpose:

As the Clinical Team Lead, you will bring specialist expertise to the position in LLC as a leading counselling provider. You will enhance our counselling model and ensure top-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the COO on centre development and strategic direction.

Operational Leadership:

  • Guide the Reception and Administrative Team, ensuring smooth clinical administrative processes in both Bray and Arklow.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure  services meet agreed quality standards and recommend continuous improvements.

Recruitment:

  • Assist in recruiting counsellors and staff, focusing on competencies and candidate assessment.

Governance:

  • Ensure robust governance frameworks, adhering to statutory obligations, ethical standards, and best practices.
  • Support the COO in the continuous review and updating of policies and procedures.
  • Lead the Governance and Compliance Subcommittee, keeping up to date on research and governance changes.

Staff Welfare:

  • Manage the staff team and provide mentoring support and direction.
  • Implement regular reviews, support, and mentoring.
  • Ensure staff understand and adhere to agency policies and practices.
  • Identify training needs and implement same.

    Requirements:

    Essential Criteria

    • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Experience in operations, administration, or service delivery
    • Knowledge of governance and compliance requirements
    • Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint digital systems
    • Full clean driving license and access to a car
    • Proactive and solution focused.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Commitment to the values and mission of Living Life Counselling.

    Desirable

    • Experience in the charity, community, or mental health sector
    • Understanding of, or strong interest in, psychotherapeutic or counselling practice
    • Qualification or training in psychotherapy, counselling, psychology, HR, or a related discipline
    • Experience supporting HR processes (including recruitment, supervision structures, performance management, and staff wellbeing) in a psychotherapeutic, counselling, or similarly sensitive service environment is highly desirable.

    Volunteer Counsellors

    Location: Bray or Arklow

    Support our organisation with general counselling supports.

    We have a mix of volunteers who are accredited, qualified and students who give a minimum of 3 hours per week.

    A portion of our volunteers are students; however our capacity to support applicants in this category is limited. Before commencing with Living Life Counselling, student candidates must provide a letter from their training body confirming their readiness for the work and the presence of insurance cover.
